Color me pretty with Kevin Murphy Color Bug. Hot neon and pastel hues are all the rage for this season and our tresses aren’t left out. Pop stars and chic streetwalkers alike have discovered the strong statement of a candy colored strand. What many have also discovered, is that semi-permanent color in those tones might be great at first but fades fast and permanent color usually means you’ll need to bleach first and lets face it — that’s scary and can get expensive. Where there is a specialized look in mind, Kevin Murphy comes to the rescue! The Kevin Murphy Color Bug is a stylist’s favorite new way to get you skittle-dipped with no strings attached. Quick Tip: Apply a fave pomade to prime the strand and make for easier application of the product. Kevin Murphy Color Bug, $30 at select salons.

Have you seen Louboutin nails? We got more than a kick out of this awesome trend when Adele sported red under her nails in honor of the godly designer at the 2012 Grammys. The excitement was dimmed, however, when we tried it on our own. Here is the lowdown on getting this haute detail to tie your look.

Great Lengths

To have the red bottoms, first you need bottoms– whether they’re natural and grown out, or done by a pro with acrylics.

White Top

Coat the top with white to ensure either top or bottom color won’t show through the other side.

Paint it Red

If you don’t have a small polish brush, or don’t trust yourself to not make a mess, Apply tape where needed on your finger to solve that problem.

Top Coat

Apply any color that you wish to the top of your nail to get that classic Louboutin show-inspired nail.

Waiting for the polish to dry can be expedited with a quick-dry product!

Don’t Forget—

Nailtini Dry Martini Drying Spray for $12

Once you’ve found your dream cut, you’ll have to come to terms with the fact that you need your hair stylist to also see your vision or things can quickly go south. Keep the bad hair cut experience at bay by schooling yourself a little bit with the language. The less you can communicate with your stylist, the larger the margin for error.

Be Straight Forward

Pictures, sign language, speak up – All things that help bridge the communication gap. Rather than talking inches, point to where you want the cut. Stylists are visual people, so pictures are non-offensive. It is also very possible that they translate the picture differently than you so don’t be afraid to talk about it. “Piecy,” “having movement,” and “structured,” are all descriptions that will perk the ears of a hair stylist so ask questions to get on the same page. Being shy can score you a shopping spree for hats so get fabulous and speak up!

Save space and save face with the Jane Iredale Active Light Concealer. Ironically, beauty editors seem to never wear makeup, but still have a healthy sheen. The secret? Linda Wells, editor for Allure swears that on a deserted island she’d have to save space for her concealer. There are other key tools to tie in the look, but definitely for the beauty minimalists out there, concealer is your magic wand.

We love Jane Iredale’s Active Light. A concealer and brightener in one, it disguises wrinkles, fatigue, and deep creases in its no mess pen-like dispenser. That said, we’ll skip the rest of the details and go right to the availability.

Achieve a perfect day glow with the Smashbox Illuminator Artificial Light

There is always time and reason to celebrate an awesome product, especially if it’s a multi-tasker. This touch of gold pigment does just that—gives any of your favorite makeup items a hint of glimmer and glow.

One of our favorite uses is mixing with a great primer and blending into your hilite zones; cheek bones, outer brow line, etc. Splash alone on your lids for an awesome dewy color, or blend the smallest amount into cheeks for a nude cheek tone with some pop.

If we had to choose to take one thing home from the salon, it might have to be perpetual shine. The Kerastase Elixir Ultime does just that- elicits shine and health from your hair cuticle by using a powerful potion that also protects against external forces, and promotes cellular renewal. Yes, please!

Good to Know

Its versatility adds value worth more than the gold color it came in. Kerastase can tell you how exactly it can be used to remove impurities, deep condition, rock a blowout, control frizz, and smooth ends.
