Rachel On Beauty is the Beauty Tips Blog of The Upper Hand Salons.  The Upper Hand operates two of Houston’s most respected salons and was recently voted Houston’s Best Hair Salon for 2010 by both CitySearch and Click 2 Houston. The Upper Hand has been featured in Lucky Magazine for both quality and timeliness. The Upper Hand’s President and CEO, Rachel E. Gower, is a recognized expert in the fashion and beauty industry. Rachel has appeared on Houston’s ABC and NBC local news affiliates and has been quoted in both The Houston Chronicle and in Total Body Magazine. In addition, Rachel has hosted Girl Talk, a weekly talk radio program and been a guest on the popular “Roula and Ryan” morning radio show and appears regularly on Patricia Lopez’s ABC News segment “Stretch Your Dollar”. She has been a frequent guest on CBS’s highly rated morning television show “Great Day Houston”, has written a monthly column for Envy Magazine and acted as a Beauty Consultant on Entercom’s nationally syndicated talk show “Your Time with Kim Iverson. In addition, Ms. Gower has appeared on Houston’s 55 and acts as a Fashion/Beauty Expert for ABC’s Mirror Mirror. A loving mother of twin girls, Rachel spends much of her free time as the President of Houston’s Friends of CIS (a drop out prevention program) as well as serving on the advisory board to San Jacinto South’s Cosmetology School. Ms. Gower’s beauty book, “Forty Over Forty” is due to hit book shelves in Fall of 2011.
